It took a very long time, from the first sketches and various tryouts (look at #03.08. of the nereids) to picture these disturbingly beautiful creatures in a way that
seems convincing to me. One difficulty in particular was the fact that the average photo material available, mostly emphasizes the sportive element rather than the sensual. The massive manipulation of the female body seems unreal enough in reality or i.e. on a photo, but in a drawing it tends to lead to a comic strip-like or even ridiculous effect.

When I came upon Brian Moss´ shemuscle site I knew that his specific view of the subject could be the direction to follow. I owe him for letting me use
his material and of course I owe the models.

The goldenish colour suddenly found its way into it, giving the set its name.
